Filleting Lesson

Although I've eaten freshly caught fish a few times in my life, I've never filleted any myself. Mark took a few minutes to show me how and soon I was wielding the knife with reckless abandon... and pretty fair results as well. I'm not anywhere near as good as Mark, but at least the next time I go fishing I can make good use of my catch.

Fishing Trip: Day Two

After our meal the previous night it was time to replenish Mark's freezer. With that goal in mind the four of us set out the next morning to fully explore our fishing spot. The fish were no match for us and our guide and our stringers were soon filled to capacity. Mission accomplished!

Fresh Fish

i

After our fishing lessons and a few hours on the lake it was time to come home and clean our catch. Mark made short work of the fish Trevor and Abby caught . He is a master with a fillet knife and a wizard in the kitchen. Dinner was fish tacos, sweet corn from Trevor and Abby's farm, and Janet's cobbler for dessert. It was indeed a meal fit for royalty.... and a memorable one for all of us.

Fishing Trip

Mark and I have been talking for a while about taking Trevor and Abby fishing. Well, we finally made it happen. Mark was really prepared with fishing kits, casting and knot-tying lessons and he even made arrangements with a neighbor for acccess to a secret fishing spot (no we're not telling) and the use of a couple of boats. Thanks Mark... and neighbor, Bill too. We all had a fantastic time! Yes, we did catch LOTS of fish. I'll post pics later. Posted by Picasa
