Gramma's Little Angel

Olivia is a very inquisitive little girl who loves to explore her world. She loves imaginative play and she seems to totally get TV remotes, cellphones, Blackberries and all the accouterments of modern life. Here she is with Gramma checking emails on her Blackberry. Maybe she's reading one from President Obama!!

Graduation Day!

Yesterday Jane and I were priveliged to attend laura's graduation from the University of St. Francis with her degree in Educational Leadership. We're proud to say Laura has always been a leader and she will make a fine principal some day soon. Here are a few photos and a poem I wrote to commemorate the occasion. Laura, we're proud of you!
Smiles

Let’s celebrate the journey
That began not with a step,
But a smile
You used to connect,
To brighten the lives
Of those who knew you.

This new journey
Began with a single drive,
A commute from farm to city
To gain wisdom,
Wisdom you’ll use to serve,
To lead, to celebrate success.

A widening circle of smiles,
This time on other parents’ children,
Once again!

Paper Journal Archive: Angel Kisses

This is a poem I wrote for Rebecca on her birthday 11 years ago. Its hard to believe how much her life has changed since then. It seems quite appropriate though considering the weather we are experiencing this weekend. I notice that Bec has the good sense to have her babies during much nicer weather! Note: If you have trouble reading this, double-click on the poem and it will display on your monitor at its original size.

A Winter Morning in Joliet

This morning
I ate my oatmeal
gazing at snow-covered trees.

O in Mom's winter hat

Olivia loves hats, and why not, she looks great in them. Here she is trying on Jane's winter hat. I'll refrain from saying who looks the best in the hat. O was moving a bit fast so its not the best picture, but I thought it was worth a post anyway.
